A Camp Like No OtherEvery summer for the last 57 years, nearly 500 boys and a few dozen coaches have descended upon a rural Mississippi town to not just to play basketball, but to participate in an experience that has shaped thousands of lives for more than half a century.
But as the years are stacked upon each other, the String Music Basketball Camp has grown into something even more -- a family affair. Fathers who attended (what was then known as) the Dixie Basketball Camp, now send their sons to learn the same lessons of spirit, enthusiasm, and discipline they did a generation ago. We even have some campers whose grandfather's attended in their halcyon days. From my own grandfather, who started the camp, to my young sons, String Music now spans four generations of our family. But the real joy is the family that we have made throughout the years. The same coaches return every year, many will be back for at least their 20th year this summer, because they can't imagine a July without it. So, for the 58th summer, let me invite you to join our family for a week like no other at the String Music Basketball Camp. See you in July. Sincerely, Scott Dean Camp Director (General III) |
